Tarzan and the Castaways
"Burroughs' first editions are valuable in many ways. It may be important for those who do office cleaning to take great care around the collection. Cleaning materials and valued treasures don't often mix well. Tarzan first editions are a great addition to any collection and should be protected."

Canaveral Press published this book in 1964 and again later in 1975. Initially about 400 copies were printed before mistakes were discovered on the copyright page and distribution temporarily halted. A label was made to correct the mistakes and applied onto the copyright page covering up the original errors. (see photo below). It is unknown how many books were released which have corrected labels.

This first edition like other Canaveral publications had various colored boards, mainly dark green, tan, and rose. All the print on the front and spine was in black. Dark green appears to be the most common color (see photo to the right).

The words "First Edition" are on the copyright page. Frank Frazetta illustrated the dust jacket and six interior illustrations. On the back of the first edition dust jacket is an advertisement for "Master of Adventure", a book by Richard A. Lupoff.

The book below is of the first edition without the label.

This photo is of the original
copyright page which shows
the errors in the dates.
Above shows a label measuring 1 7/8" x 2 1/2" that is pasted over the errors, making this a variant of the first edition.
The dust jacket has 2 small stains on rear cover, light sun exposure on spine; would rate about Near Fine Plus.
