| FIRST EDITION IDENTIFIERS:
This book includes three unrelated stories and was published by Canaveral Press on April 27, 1964. The words "First Edition" appear on the copyright page. The book cover came in either blue or tan and was lettered in black. The three unrelated stories are "Beyond the Farthest Star", "The Resurrection of Jimber-Jaw", and "The Wizard of Venus". This was the first time any of the three stories had appeared in hardback. "The Wizard of Venus" is part of the Venus series and was likely to have been the first part of a larger novel. Canaveral Press reprinted this book again in 1974 and is identical except for the copyright page. For "Beyond the Farthest Star" Mr. Burroughs had designed an elaborate planetary system and civilization which were likely to be the basis for additional stories. However he never wrote any further stories involving this subject matter. For "The Resurrection of Jimber-Jaw" which first appeared in a magazine, Edgar Rice Burroughs titled this story as "Elmer" but the Argosy editor retitled it to include various changes to the storyline. In 2001, "Elmer" was included in the book "Forgotten Tales of Love & Murder" with Edgar Rice Burroughs' original text. |
